Meet the Newest Member

Meet the newest member of our family... we think her name is Chris (short for Christal). She's a Honda Pilot, which I've LOVED ever since they came out. One of the best features is that she's got third row seating that folds completely down for cargo room. Gotta love it!

She's only a few weeks old, but she seems to be fitting in just fine.

I guess the saying is true, it does happen.

The weekend before last, I had a candle party to do (yes, that's right, I'm a Candle Lady, if you didn't already know... I'll have to post about that later). Well, it was GORGEOUS weather that weekend, so the hostess and I decided to wait outside for everyone to arrive.

I love the first few days of spring weather. There's really nothing like it. There's a cool crisp breeze, all of a sudden the sun just feels warmer, and something different is in the air... ahhh... I love it.

Once her guests arrived we headed inside to get the party started... as we go around introducing ourselves, I happen to look down and notice something on my shirt. And here begins the internal dialog, 'What is that on my shirt? Is that some sort of condiment? Maybe mayonnaise? I don't remember having any mayo... ' And now in my not so internal dialog, rather my out-loud voice, "Oh... my... gosh... a bird really just crapped on me... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!"

I'm sure my face was probably COMPLETELY purple with embarrassment, but it really was one of the funniest things that has happened to me in a *really* long time! I just couldn't get over it... a bird really did crap on me!! It still makes me laugh... puhahahahahahaha!!!

So, the moral... if you're ever in need of a really good laugh, just stand outside for long enough and if you're lucky, a bird may just take a dump right on ya. That's enough to make anyone chuckle!

Wedding Bells are Ringing

This summer I'm in two weddings, both as a bridesmaid. I love it! Weddings are one of the very few occasions that us "adults" get to dress up. I have to say that I honestly do miss that about high school. With homecomings and proms, twice a year you got to buy a fancy dress, fancy shoes, put on fancy make-up, and get your hair all done.. yes, fancy style. But once high school is over... that's about it. I was never in a sorority in college, so I never did the "Formal" thing. And neither Handsome Hubby nor I ever have occasion to go to black-tie affairs, so weddings are pretty much it for us. And yes, I'm a girl who likes to occasionally get all dressed-up and try to live out those childhood fantasies of being a princess... HA! Ok, well, not quite... but it's still a good time, and I very much enjoy it.

Here's my dress for my College Girl's wedding. I've ordered it, but haven't gotten my hands on it yet. Can't wait though! Oh, and the ribbon will not be black... it'll be rose colored. (www.billlevkoff.com) Posted by Hello

The Big Juicy Apple

A few weeks back Handsome Hubby and I ventured up to NJ to visit our Tall-and-Engaged-Friends. I've been meaning to post about it for awhile. It was great because we had been trying to plan a trip to visit for quite some time, and after a couple cancellations, it finally happened!

On that Saturday we spent the day in NYC, which was especially sweet because HH had never actually been to the big city before. And like any great adventure... lessons were learned...

1. Miss Piggy makes for a drop-dead Glinda. (And Kermie isn't too bad as the Scarecrow neither!)

2. Cartier ain't playin'. (Yeah, no really... they aren't. No further explanation needed.)

3. So... for 20 million bucks, the gates don't stick around for longer than 2 WEEKS??? Oh! Silly me!

4. Not all homeless men are particularly appreciative of getting a grilled chicken panini. Turns out he'd rather just have the pocket change. Once again.. silly me.

5. Hoboken has some mean margaritas! Yeah, baby! :-9

6. Everything is up for negotiation... *especially* cute, little, pink purses sold by street vendors chillin' on the corner: "Uh, yeah, that's 25." "Umm... how 'bout 10?" "20." "How 'bout 12?" "Uhh... 18." "No, really, how 'bout 12?" "No, no... but 15." "Alright, 15." Score!

We really had a great visit, and unfortunately it flew by way too fast. But hopefully it won't be too long before we do it again. Well, it'll at least be this July... (insert wedding bells here).

You Go Barbie!

Anyone else catch the "truly outrageous" reference on a recently run SNL, with Paris Hilton hosting?

It was during the "Inside Barbie’s Dreamhouse" sketch. Basically, Ken (Will Forte) cheats on a more classic Barbie (Amy Poehler) with Fashion Fever Barbie (Paris Hilton). Damn that Ken. Anyway...

Classic Barbie exclaims, “Wait until I call Jem. She will think this is truly outrageous.”

Ha Ha! I was rollin'!!!

Slacker!

Aren't I such a slacker! I'm sorry for abandoning you for a couple of weeks, but I'm here to explain... the last couple of weeks have just been pretty crazy for me.

Along with the change of weather, it looks like some changes are in store for me too. For the last few months I've been keeping my eyes and ears open for a new job. It's insane how tight the job market is here. After applying and interviewing for several positions that didn't work out, it was getting pretty hard to not get discouraged. Well, let's face it, I was feeling *very* discouraged. But then there was hope...

A couple of weeks ago, I went on two interviews (for two different jobs) on the same day. Yes, that was exhausting, but well worth it for logistical reasons. In any case, I actually did receive an offer... two as a matter of fact!! A very, VERY stressful week ensued because of course I didn't hear back from both at the same time, so a bit of finagling had to be done. And then there's the whole negotiation process. I lost so much sleep over it all, and probably developed an ulcer too. But finally... I decided to ACCEPT one of the offers! Wahoo! I'm totally excited and completely anxious about it!

But of course... once that decision was made, I had to break the news to my current boss and co-workers. I've never been in the position of looking for a job while currently in one. They say it's the best time to look... but I'd argue that it's probably the most stressful too. A couple more sleepless nights ensued, but I managed to get through it all pretty much unscathed. My first day is Monday!

In any case, I'd say that for me, this whole experience has put a new spin on the term "spring cleaning".
